As autumn paints the world in warm hues, I’m taking a moment to cherish the vibrant creativity that blossomed at Creative Sparks Workshop this summer. From the Monet-inspired watercolours to the lively Pop Art featuring enchanting creatures, our workshops were a canvas of imagination and joy.
The highlight of our summer, the first Arts Award event, focusing on Bronze level achievements, was a monumental success! Sydney, a valued member of the Creative Sparks family, took the lead, showing our budding Arts Award Sparks the mesmerising world of spray painting. Their eyes lit up with enthusiasm and inspiration, setting the tone for future artistic endeavours.
The Clacton Carnival fair was a day to remember, even with the unpredictable weather. Nothing could dampen our spirits as we proudly showcased Creative Sparks and Pink Parrot Pottery. A huge shoutout goes to the incredible efforts of Jess Logan and Sydney for their unwavering dedication on that memorable day.
Meanwhile, I spent the first part of the summer (between rain clouds) transforming a Beach Toy Box to be placed along Clacton Seafront. This project, part of the borrow-play-return movement by Unsealed in Clacton, was fun to do and hopefully will be boundless fun for beachgoers. I just hope my addition, will be liked by both locals and visitors. The ‘Art Critic’ had his apprentice with him when he came to supervise, the insisted on some snacks and a belly rub in exchange for a good review!
I also made a start on a piece for a charity art exhibition and auction for Porridge and Pens Ghana, which helps to fund a school out in Africa. As you will see the ‘Art Critic’ had to inspect every brush and sat supervising!
Let’s not forget the wonderful meeting of creative minds that I had the pleasure of being a part of. Together, we are brainstorming exciting events for the upcoming year, promising even more opportunities for artistic expression for the Sparks!
Lastly, I am elated to share that Creative Sparks is in the running for the Creativity and Culture award at the Tendring District Council Tendring4Growth Business Awards, early this October. A heartfelt thank you to all who nominated us. Your support fuels my passion for bringing art into the lives in our younger community!
Honestly, summer at Creative Sparks Workshop was a testament to the magic of creativity, community, and a sprinkle of seaside charm. As I fondly look back on these moments, my heart overflows with gratitude for each person who has played a part in this journey. Here’s to a future filled with even more inspiration and artistic wonders for the Sparks!
